One editor, no sponsor, sources under every page

In those software companies the question of why so many of the founders were members came up about once a quarter, usually from a visiting investor, and the answer was always a statistic nobody could trace. It happened often enough that I started keeping a file. The file became this site. The profiles are the people. The essays are the explanations that survive checking, and the ones that do not, labelled as such. The explainers are the background you need to read either without a glossary, because a reader in Boston should not have to guess what a ward is or why a $400-a-month mission at 19 matters to a hiring manager.

• Not affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and not reviewed by it.
• Not a directory of member-owned businesses, and not a place to get one listed.
• Not selling anything: no ads, no affiliate links, no courses, no newsletter upsell.
• Not a wealth ranking. Net-worth figures appear only with a source and a year attached.

A site at this domain first went up in 2012 under a different editor, with the same three sections and the same section addresses. The addresses are kept because people and search engines still follow them. The text is not. Every profile, essay and explainer was written from scratch in 2026 from Wikipedia and primary sources; nothing from the 2012 pages was copied, paraphrased or used as a starting point, because I could not source most of it and did not want to inherit what I could not check.

The headline figures on this site come from the Church's own statistics page: 17,887,212 members and 211 operating temples as of December 31, 2025. Company figures come from the companies or from newspapers, and each carries its year. Where two sources disagree, as the Church's temple count of 211 and Wikipedia's count of 216 did when this page was written in September 2026, the site uses the Church's figure with its date and says so.
